CALL FOR RESIDENTIAL STAY AT THE “ZVONA i NARI” LITERARY RETREAT 2025

We are pleased to announce that, thanks to this year's support from the Istria County and the Municipality of Ližnjan, the ZVONA i NARI Library and Literary Retreat can announce the call for a residential stay in Ližnjan for a duration of up to 15 days during the months of May and June, as well as September and October 2025.

We are particularly interested in hosting writers and artists who engage in the following themes in their work:

1. Intergenerational Dialogue - We are interested in how contemporary literature overcomes the cultural and technological gap between the so-called "old" and "young." We also want to know how the role of the book media changes across different life stages. Do older readers represent the basis of today's reading audience? What is the relationship between the tendencies of "escape from the book" among youth and the educational system? How can literary presentations become a bridge between generations?

Since our organization collaborates with local elementary and high schools, as well as homes for the elderly and the pensioners' union, we want to motivate visiting writers and artists to devise literary projects that align with the needs of these organizations.

2. Freedom of Spirituality in the Freedom of Art – We open a special space for actively contemplating themes of spirituality in literary creation. In what ways do contemporary literary texts stimulate and achieve interreligious and ecumenical dialogue? We are especially interested in projects that focus on strengthening the position of women in religious systems, as well as empowering marginalized social groups.
