Some of Us

Some of us have been

Touched by true evil

Despite it all, we live to

Breathe in another day

Some of us have been

Abused almost beyond repair

Yet we have found a way to

Thrive in this crooked world

Some of us have been

Harming ourselves physically

Even still, we struggle with

Urges, and celebrate every win

Some of us have been

Abandoned by loved ones

However, we crave connection

Looking forever to fill our void

Some of us have been

Cheated and deceived

All things considered, we want

To trust and see change

Some of us have been

Tortured by PTSD

Though we try not to let it

Define us and control us

Some of us have been

Making bad decisions

Nonetheless we give our all

To start all over again
