BLOOM
The blood rises hot
As lips find secret spots
Crevices cry
Capillaries burst
It blooms
Blue
Then
Yellow
Purple and Pink
Seeping across the surface of the skin
Marks of love, lust, trust
Left everlasting on the skin
Fingers trace them for days after
Remembering Roses
Blooming
SEEP
Your body is heavy
Wrapped around mine
And there’s no sleep
Here
Only a pooling
Seeping
Of blood
Through veins
A beat of drums
In my chest
Holding me down in place
FRACTURE LINE
Fracture lines crack
In mirrors reflecting ribs
Redness fluttering
Skin
Fingertips smooth over
Feeling for depths
I’m in over my head
Mosquito bitten
Skin kissed surface
Fabric clutched in creases
Over the hairline break
Walls are blue and tiled
In mirrors reflected lips
Pink with blood
Bold as brass
Silver chrome shines on
Secrets seep
Silent scenes
Barefoot on the floor
We decide
There’s time for more
And on and on just like before
Hands are slow
Savouring
Skin
Fingerprint
Marking
A path
Along spine, ribs and neck
Movement is lingering
Moments take lifetimes
Long and careful
LUNGS
Before my breath was trapped within my lungs
Fighting for release
It screamed and burned
Pounding in my chest
Locked with keys turned
Too tight
My feet stamped and hit the floor
Beating as a ran
But
Next to you it was free
It escapes
Finding yours
And between us we flew
Leaving the Earth behind
We lift from the ground
Dancing amongst the stars
And I am free
Next to you
Our breath shared
In space and time
HEARTLINES
To cultivate
Veins growing
Seeping away from the ties of the heart
Reaching fingertips
Palms
Hands
Lines linked
Alive like fire
Burning up
A fever
Dormant
As freezing ice
Heartlines stretched
Pulled
Pushed
Living
Breathing
Alive
To cultivate
Heartlines
Takes
Nourishing
Love
Unmistakable
Irresistible
Heartlines
About the Author: Rosie D’Ercole has worked in creative industries for over ten years, she is a dedicated writer who uses her poetry primarily to express precise moments in time. Her writing allows her to capture otherwise fleeting moments, and acts as a reference point to return to. Every time we return to a memory we remember the last time we remembered it. Writing allows for a recollection of how something felt in the moment the words hit the page. Almost all of her work is free verse and she enjoys the non conformity and self expression it affords her. She is due to be published in the upcoming third issue of Curio Cabinet and is currently editing her first anthology ‘The Pink Room’.
